Meet Pat Colloton

Pat Colloton was first elected to the Kansas House in 2004 and was re-elected in 2006, 2008 and 2010.  She was instrumental in helping our schools receive significant funding increases after years of neglect and preserving significant parts of this funding as state revenues declined.  During her 8 years, Pat has authored and sponsored legislation that has been enacted into law on a wide range of issues.  The list includes scholarships for future math, science and special education teachers, the expansion of DNA testing to identify and arrest sexual predators earlier, innovative new approaches to community corrections, revision of the laws regarding domestic violence, DUI, victim notification when a defendant is transfered to the civil authorities, and  increased funding for people with disabilities. All these bills became law.  Pat currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Justice Center, a national organization under the Council of State Governments which focuses on developing evidence-based  practices and laws in the criminal justice system. 

Colloton, a small business owner and attorney, has served as the vice chair of the Leawood Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committee and a member of the Johnson County Public Policy Council. She is a graduate of the Leawood Chamber's 2002 Leadership Program and a former member of the Leawood Planning Commission.  In 2011 Pat received the highest lifetime rating by the Overland Park Chamber of Commerce of any represenative.

Colloton has a long record of local public service. She is the former president of the Blue Valley North High School Parents Club, the former president of the Leawood Middle School Parent Teachers Organization and was former president of the Epilepsy Foundation of Kansas and Western Missouri, the former vice president of Heartstrings Community Foundation and formerly a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of Marillac.  Colloton is currently a member of the Leawood Lions Club, the Leawood Rotary, the Leawood Womans Club, the Leawood Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumni Association.   In 1999 the American Red Cross of Kansas City named she and her husband as Philanthropists of the Year.

She has been active in Republican circles including membership in the Johnson County Republican Party and was elected as an alternate delegate to the 2004 Republican National Convention. She is a member of the Kansas Republican Party Sunflower Club and the Northeast Johnson County Women's Club.

Pat Colloton is a highly respected attorney with an impressive legal background. She has lectured on Kansas school law and written a manual entitled. "Kansas School Law Issues" under the auspices of the National Business Law Institute. She represents the Kansas House of Representatives on the National Task Force on Justice and Safety where she servces as Chairman.  She has served on the University of Wisconsin's Law School Board of Directors and was a member of the Longmeadow, Massachusetts Board of Education and the Northbrook, Illinois Board of Education.

Her educational background includes a Juris Doctor from the University of Wisconsin Law School and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Psychology from the University of Wisconsin. 

Colloton resides in Leawood with her husband Patrick. They have a daughter Katy who is currently working in Chicago.
